Live Your Fairytale Fund

Since 2014, The T Project has delivered essential social services for the transgender community, and continues today through our shelter, counselling services, outreach, and advocacy efforts. For many individuals the organisations serves, the journey towards stability is often interrupted by unexpected financial challenges.

While larger forms of assistance may cover accommodation or basic living costs, there are countless day-to-day expenses that can become significant barriers to independence. A replacement pair of spectacles needed for work, transport costs to attend medical appointments or job interviews, emergency healthcare expenses, work attire for a new job. For someone already facing financial hardship, these costs can mean the difference between moving forward or falling behind.

Through our work supporting homeless and vulnerable transgender individuals, The T Project has witnessed how these unexpected expenses can accumulate and create additional stress for people who are already navigating housing insecurity, employment challenges, and social isolation.

Thanks to the generosity of a member of the community, the Live Your Fairytale Fund was created in response to meet these real-life needs. Inspired by the experiences of our residents and community members, the fund provides financial assistance for ad-hoc essential expenses that may otherwise prevent a person from taking the next step towards a more secure and fulfilling future. While no single grant can solve every challenge, timely support can ease a burden, open a door, or create an opportunity when it is needed most.

The grant provides up to $1,000 per person over the lifetime of the fund, helping eligible beneficiaries address essential expenses that contribute to their wellbeing, independence, employment, healthcare access, and quality of life.

At its heart, the Fund is about more than financial assistance. It is about affirming that everyone deserves the chance to write their own story. Sometimes, living your fairy tale life begins not with a grand gesture, but with a helping hand at exactly the right moment. Through this fund, The T Project hopes to ensure that no transgender person has to put their dreams on hold because of a temporary financial obstacle.

Together, we can help our community move beyond merely surviving and towards truly thriving.
